different level content
The collaborative group service learning project allows higher-level students to take on a leadership role and students of various levels to split the tasks according to their ability levels.
Vocabulary development
A color-coded word wall containing key terms related to human trafficking and statistical data will be established within both classrooms and visible to all students. Each term will be accompanied by its definition (within the context of the unit) and a picture or graphic which will help students remember it by association. During the first eight days of the unit, the teachers will add two words to the wall per day.
Day 1: poverty, interpret data
Day 2: forced labor, statistics
Day 3: sweatshop, abduction
Day 4: coercion, predator
Day 5: domestic servitude, runaway
Day 6: prostitution, inhumane
Day 7: brothel, global impact
Day 8: commercial sexual exploitation, threat
Students will suggest any words that they have encountered in their activities that they do not understand (or wish to know more about); the teachers will add these words to the word wall.
